It is home to two of the world’s largest and oldest rainforests (Borneo and Papua), two of the world’s richest marine biodiversity sites (Sulu and Sulawesi Seas), and four world heritage sites (i.e., Mt. Kinabalu, Mulu Caves, Tubattaha Reefs, St. Paul Subterranean River).

EAGA offers the diverse land- and water-based tourist attractions that can parallel the world’s best. EAGA also boasts of the some of the best dive spots in the world. Tourist activities include diving, snorkeling, trekking, mountain climbing, game fishing and other adventure sports.

The subregion’s vast and relatively unspoiled natural resources, diverse cultures, and the rich biodiversity found in its forests and marine areas are just a few of the reasons why EAGA is being marketed as a “dream destination”.

A wide range of accommodations is available, from budget hotels to the most luxurious resorts, hotels and spas, but much of the potential in the tourism sector still remains untapped and majority of tourist attractions are still unknown to regional and international tourists.
